Message from the Administrator and Coordinator

Welcome to all students, alumni, and visitors to our website. Thank you for visiting our site and for your interest in our United World Colleges (UWC) Scholarship offers.

The UWC Kiribati National Committee is part of the United World Colleges (UWC) movement, which makes education a force to unite people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. It functions within the values of international and intercultural understanding. To celebrate the difference, personal responsibility and integrity, mutual responsibility; and respect, compassion and service. To respect for the environment, a sense of idealism, personal challenge, and action, and personal example.

UWC Kiribati National Committee commits itself to offer the following services:

  1. To select students from Kiribati and prepare them to become UWC scholars.
  2. To promote international education through our UWC scholarship offer.
  3. We prepare students to work in the labour movement, in government, non-profit, in human resources, and the corporate world as leaders and activists for change.
  4. To organise UWC short courses for the advancement of knowledge and new skills
  5. To empower youths and give them the confidence in themselves.

Our Mission:

We select and send talented, creative, highly educated, socially and minded young people to achieve international education in UWC colleges and schools. They can find possible solutions to the impacts of climate change that have negative impacts on Kiribati.

We are very fortunate indeed in having the UWC Scholarship offers from the UWC International Office in the UK every year. This ongoing scholarship offer marks a quantum leap in the fight against lower standards of education and unemployment in Kiribati. Additionally, this scholarship offer has opened the doors to opportunities for our students. They will be achieving their international education through UWC schools and colleges outside Kiribati.

Most important of all, the human, social and economic development of Kiribati is in the hands of our youths, our talented young men and women. Let's empower and support them to explore the world of learning through achieving both further education and international education.

Hence, let us all wake up, and do something vitally important to our youths.

Let us all become change makers!

Te Mauri, Te Raoi, ao Te Tabomoa iaora n taai nako.
